Hinamatsuri(ひな祭り)The Girl’s day!!

On the 3rd of March, we have Hinamatsuri(ひな祭り) for girls. Also, called Doll’s day or Girl’s day. We display dolls representing the emperor and empress on the top, then their servants, attendants, musicians in the Heian era.

Basically, its display consists of 5 platforms. The 1st platform has the emperor and the empress, the 2nd platform has three court ladies, the 3rd platform has musicians, the 4th has politicians or governers. Then 5th has protectors, helpers and trees or plants.

In Hinamatsuri, basically, we celebrate girls’ luck and health. We eat Sushi and drinking alcohol (not for girls!!).

Usually, we start to show these ornaments about 2 to 3 weeks before. And we put them back on the 3rd or 4th of March, right after the celebration. Otherwise, girls would delay marriage, although this is a rumor.

Well, anytime, anywhere, we always connected to Kimono clothing.

Thank you for visiting!!

We make purses, bags, jewelry, and tableware used Kimono, Japanese traditional garment in Toronto, Canada.
